“You knew she might be alive.”
“I knew Rosie believed it.”
“That is not the same thing.”
“No.”
“Did Rosie tell you I wasn’t Evelyn’s daughter?”
“She suspected.”
“And you kept that from me too.”
“She had no proof.”
“I am tired of hearing that.”
“I know.”
“Everyone decided what I could survive. You. Rosie. My father. My mother, if she’s alive.”

“Rosie wasn’t trying to control you.”
“She left me a letter only to be opened if she died.”
“Because she thought Richard would hurt you if he knew you had learned the truth.”
“He’s in custody.”
