Rosie hated that discovery.

She leaned her head against my shoulder.
The twins slept nearby while Ben spoke with guests.
“Were you scared?” I asked.
“When?”
“When you found the evidence.”
“Yes.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because you always run toward trouble when someone you love is in danger.”
“So does Ben.”
“Yes. That is why I married him.”
I smiled.
“Was that the real reason?”
“One of them.”
“What was the biggest reason?”
Rosie watched her husband lift their daughter into the air.
