Can You Find the Man in the Hat?
Before continuing, give yourself a few moments to solve the puzzle.
Look at the rocks.
Then examine the spaces between them.
Pay attention to the outlines, shadows, and unusual arrangements of the natural features. Sometimes changing the way you look at an optical illusion can make the hidden image suddenly become much easier to recognize.
If you spot the figure, try to remember exactly where you saw it before checking with someone else.
Why Optical Illusions Can Be So Challenging
Our brains are constantly trying to make sense of visual information. When we look at a familiar scene, we tend to organize what we see into recognizable objects.
That can make hidden-picture puzzles more difficult.
Instead of seeing individual lines and shapes, we immediately think, “That’s a rock,” or “That’s a branch.” Once our brain has decided what something represents, we may stop examining it closely.
This is one reason a hidden figure can remain unnoticed even when it is clearly present in the picture.
