Audrey forced herself to breathe slowly.
She pressed the nurse call button.
A voice answered.
“Yes, Mrs. Vale?”
“Could you come in, please?”
“Of course.”
Less than a minute later, a nurse named Elena knocked and identified herself.
Audrey unlocked the door.
Elena entered with a reassuring smile, but her expression changed when she saw Audrey looking around the room.
“Are you feeling pain?”
“No. I need to know whether there are cameras in here.”
Elena followed her gaze.
“Not inside patient rooms.”
“What is that above the door?”
“A motion sensor. It turns on the bathroom light at night.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
“Could anyone access it remotely?”
Elena looked confused.
“No. It isn’t a camera.”
Audrey believed she was telling the truth.
That did not mean the device had not been changed.
“Has anyone entered this room besides you, Dr. Patel, Agent Cruz, and my sister-in-law?”
Elena thought.
