The nanny apologized breathlessly.
“He heard where we were going. He ran from me downstairs.”
Margaret stood.
“He has nothing to do with this.”
Idan shouted over her.
“Yes, I do! Grandma had the necklace after Clara left!”
The courtroom exploded into whispers.
Margaret turned white.
Adam froze.
Maya slowly stood.
“What did you say?”
Margaret grabbed her attorney’s arm.
“He is confused.”
“I’m not!”
Idan’s hands were shaking.
The judge ordered everyone silent.
Adam approached his son carefully.
“Idan, look at me.”
The boy looked at him.
“What are you talking about?”
Idan swallowed.
“The necklace.”
Margaret interrupted.
“Adam, he is a child. He doesn’t understand—”
Idan spun toward her.
