She folded her arms.
“I love Idan. That does not mean I belong in your house.”
Adam nodded slowly.
“Can he still see you?”
Clara’s eyes softened.
“If he wants to.”
“He does.”
“Then yes.”
Adam turned to leave.
Before he reached the stairs, Clara spoke.
“Mr. Hamilton.”
He looked back.
“For thirteen years, I thought loyalty meant staying even when people forgot to value you.”
Adam waited.
