“Did you run DNA?” I asked.
Julian nodded.
“The results came back yesterday.”
My heart pounded.
“And?”
Julian looked at me.
“They’re a match.”
I covered my mouth.
My father was alive.
After twenty years.
But there was something Julian still wasn’t telling me.
I could see it in his face.
“What happened to him?”
Julian glanced at my father.
“That’s the question.”
My father suddenly gripped my wrist.
Hard.
His eyes filled with terror.
“Julian.”
“What?”
My father shook his head.
“Don’t tell her.”
I froze.
“Don’t tell me what?”
He looked directly at me.
“I didn’t disappear.”
