She paused.
“The person who helped him move the money was Detective Miller.”
No one spoke.
Then Miller’s voice entered the recording.
He was not in the room during the attack.
He had been on the phone with Victor earlier that day, explaining how to describe the scene so the first report would look like a burglary.
He told Victor which items to remove.
He told him what questions officers would ask.
He told him to make sure there were no obvious family photographs left in the room where Tessa was found.
That explained the frame turned facedown.
That explained the report signed before Miller had examined the house.
