Kayla looked delighted.

The twins disappeared into the kitchen.
When they returned, Lizzie was carrying a large shopping bag.
She handed it to Kayla.
Kayla opened it eagerly.

Kayla slowly lifted the pages.
The smile vanished from her face.
“Where did you get this?”
Jennifer met her eyes.

The change in Kayla was immediate.
“Allison?”

Jennifer said nothing.
Kayla shoved the papers back into the bag, grabbed her purse, and hurried toward the front door.
She moved so quickly she forgot both her coat and her shoes.
