My husband slipped something into my soup, thinking I wasn’t looking; when he stepped out, I switched our bowls; what unfolded 30 minutes later left me in shock.

When he thought I wasn’t looking, he pulled out a small glass bottle from his pocket.

This time, he poured much more of the clear liquid into my bowl than I had ever seen before.

Enough to kill me within hours, just like he had told Sophia.

“I’ll be right back,” Marcus said when his phone rang. “Work call.”

He walked into the living room, and I could hear him talking quietly.

I knew he was probably telling Sophia that it was done, that I would be dead soon.

This was my chance.

My hands were shaking, but I quickly switched our soup bowls.

The bowl with enough arsenic to kill me was now sitting in front of Marcus’s chair.

The clean bowl was in front of mine.

When Marcus came back, he was practically glowing with happiness.

“Sorry about that, honey. You know how demanding work can be.”
