Chloe stared at him.
“You want to pay me to stay quiet?”
“I want to protect my family.”
“Your family?” she asked softly. “What about my daughter?”
Richard’s expression hardened.
“Your daughter will be provided for.”
Chloe looked down at the folder.
Then she pushed it back toward him.
“My daughter is not a liability you can settle with a check.”
Spencer finally spoke.
“Chloe, please. Dad is trying to make things right.”
She turned toward him.
“Then why are you letting him negotiate my silence?”
Spencer opened his mouth but couldn’t answer.
Amanda removed a copy of the signed succession agreement from her folder and placed it in front of Richard.
“We have reason to believe your son attempted to obtain a financial benefit through deliberate deception. We are not here to speculate about the consequences. We are here to make sure the relevant evidence is preserved.”
